Important Information – Please Read Before Ordering

We want you to get the best results from your floor tiles, so here are a few helpful things to know before you place your order.

Our tiles are designed for indoor use only. If parts of your floor receive direct sunlight or experience temperature changes, you will need to use an adhesive to keep everything secure. If you’re unsure whether this applies to your space we have a gluing guide available to download in the assembly section, or we’re always happy to advise.

Some rubber tyres and wheels may cause staining on vinyl flooring, including our tiles. This is due to a chemical reaction between the anti-oxidants in rubber tyres and the plasticizers used in vinyl flooring. The resulting stain is typically brown, which is less noticeable on darker tile colours such as Anthracite Grey or Black. Unfortunately, this is a known issue across the entire flooring industry and cannot be prevented unless changes are made to tyre manufacturing

FAQs

Can the tiles be used outdoors?

No. For outdoor use we recommend our Vented Flooring range.

Can tiles be laid over painted, vinyl, or carpeted floors?

Yes, for painted and vinyl. We recommend removing the carpet before installation.

Does the floor need to be dry or degreased first?

No. The tiles can be laid on damp or contaminated surfaces. They’re breathable, and no adhesive is needed.

Can your tiles be used with underfloor heating?

Yes, but switch on the heating and let it reach normal temperature before installing. Lay full tiles first and let them acclimatize for 24 hours before installing the edges.

How much cutting allowance or wastage should I plan for?

Allow 5% extra. Measure accurately and any off cuts can be used elsewhere around your install. Better to over-order slightly - unused tiles can be returned or kept as spares.

Do I need to repair the subfloor first?

Only if there are major cracks or missing concrete. Just sweep or vacuum before installing.

Do I need to use adhesive?

Please refer to our Adhesive Guidelines available to download alongside the assembly instructions.

Loose Lay or Glue?

In most instances, adhesive is not required. The tiles are designed to be loose laid and will comfortably withstand footfall and vehicle traffic.

However, adhesive may be necessary in certain conditions, including:

  • Areas exposed to direct sunlight (e.g. garage doors, loading bay doors, skylights, or large windows)
  • Areas subject to heavy point loading or shear forces (e.g. wheel spinning or forklift trucks with concentrated rear-wheel loads or tight turning circles)
  • Locations exposed to isolated heat sources, such as catalytic converters or oven/furnaces

In these situations, we recommend applying adhesive either to specific affected areas or across the full installation, depending on site conditions.

If adhesive is required, we recommend using Mapei Adesilex G19.

What tools are needed to install garage floor tiles?

You’ll need a rubber mallet, tape measure or ruler, a pen and a jigsaw or concave-blade Stanley knife. A guillotine, table saw, or bandsaw also works when cutting tiles.

Can I use a floor jack on your tiles?

Yes. The tiles are tough and compress slightly under heavy loads but return to shape. Jacks, hoists, and toolboxes are fine.
